Her Story

A career that started with numbers, and turned into people.

Rasheedatu didn't set out to become an advisor. Early in her career, working in roles where a single missed detail had real consequences, she kept running into the same gap outside of work: friends and family making major money decisions — a first policy, a first mortgage, a child's education fund — without anyone ever walking them through the reasoning first. Helping one family untangle their savings and protection strategy was enough to convince her this was the work she wanted to do. She's been doing it ever since, for households at every stage, from a first paycheque to a paid-off mortgage.

Her practice covers six areas — insurance, investments, children's education savings, retirement, tax planning and estate management — because most families' decisions in one area quietly affect the others. A policy bought without a plan, or a plan built without the right coverage behind it, both tend to cost more later.

Alongside her advisory work, Rasheedatu is a contributing advisor to the National Financial Literacy Campaign, a national effort to help 30 million Canadian families build the financial confidence and vocabulary they were never taught in school, by 2030.

"I don't want anyone to sign something they don't understand — insurance, an RESP, a mortgage, anything. My job is to make sure you could explain your own plan back to me, in your own words."

— Rasheedatu Nyei
